This portion of the Arcia Maps category is for displaying maps of the various regions of the planet Raynor. As mentioned before, these maps will be purely representative but should serve as some kind of aid to help players write their stories. Since these maps are representative, they will have special markings on them to "represent" certain areas of the map. A short summary of the markings will be present below each map in the notes section. Also, if I re-draft a map to make a second better draft, the previous map will be removed to conserve space. Hope these help!
Raynor Overview A.D. 2075
Notes: There is no 200 mile ruler on this map as this planet is roughly the same size as Earth-2. You can just use the ruler on that map. North is up, South is down, West is left, East is right. This map is highly representative. There is a large amount of cloud cover due to the planet's water content. The southern pole is not a region as it is too cold for both machine and man.
Polaris Region A.D. 2075
Key Locations:
1. Polaris Circle: Denoted by the cyan-colored line, this circle is similar to an arctic circle, except it is too cold north of this circle for man, machine, and any vegetation.
2. Polaris Research Base: This region is inaccessible by sea due to the large amounts of ice in the adjacent bay. It is home to the main command for the APM on Raynor and is a major center for arctic testing of APM equipment. In addition, there are rich mineral and ore mines located beneath this site. Shipments to and from Apothos arrive here.
3. Main APM defensive line and Secondary APM defensive line: These lines guard the only land routes into the Polaris Research Base. They consist of well-trained and numerous garrisons that are also fitted with some of the APM's latest technology for arctic combat.
The Crimson Isles A.D. 2075:
Key Locations:
1. A.U.S. Brigham and Fleet: This is the current location of the A.U.S. Brigham and Fleet as of the crafting of this map. The fleet is highly mobile for such a large force and is almost entirely self-sufficient. The AU have no major land footholds as of this map's submission, so the Brigham and Fleet allow the AU forces to avoid APM detection amidst the vast waters of Raynor.
2. APM Crimson Isles HQ: This island is incredibly well-defended from both sea and air invasions and serves as the home for the APM command in the Crimson Isles. It's only weak point is an invasion from an adjacent island, forcing would-be attackers to island-hop up the Crimson Isles' archipelago to be in a suitable position for attack.
3. The Islands: There is a reason why the Crimson Isles received their name. This region is the primary grouping of Islands in the Crimson Isles and is the single most contested region on Raynor. Numerous AU troops and APM soldiers have been felled in attempts to take and defend these islands, respectively. Each island is, as of the submission of this map, held by the APM who have fortified the islands with anti-air weaponry, naval counter-measures, and thick boundaries of machine nests, snipers, and armor.
Oceanis A.D. 2075:
Key Locations:
1. Central Control Tower: This tower was the main center of government before the city of Oceanis was evacuated due to APM and AU conflict. However, as central of a position as this tower is, its true importance lies in its control over the underwater artificial current system underneath Oceanis. The "Artificial Current Creation System" (ACCS) is a series of large underwater turbines which create a man-made underwater current around Oceanis; this artificial current allows the buildings of Oceanis to be easily supported on columns stretching far below the oceans of Raynor. Should the ACCS be disengaged or damaged, the artificial current would fail, the natural current would resume as it normally would, and Oceanis would fall into the ocean due to the stress created by the normal current pattern on Oceanis' support pylons.
2. Stranded AU Forces: A small contingent of AU forces are stranded in this building after a covert assault on Oceanis failed. Their status (dead/alive) is unknown at this time.
3. Budget Housing (Little Oceanis): Housing that is suspended over water can be expensive, but these smaller buildings (much like a suburb) are more affordable and surround Oceanis. They have come to be called "Little Oceanis". However, with the war raging, this region has become the area of conflict for the AU and the APM. Because of the ACCS most of the rubble and remains from battle in Oceanis remain suspended in this region.
4. The APM Defensive Perimeter (Red) and the AU Primary Offensive Line (Blue): These lines represent the forward positions of both sides of the battle in Oceanis. The AU current have a small foothold on the east side of Oceanis, with the APM holding firm on all other sides of the city.
